At Weston Street Bible church, we teach grace truths to hungry souls, both locally and internationally
When a person becomes a child of God through faith in Christ , the Holy Spirit creates a new person on the inside who cries “Abba Father” (Romans 8:15) This new born baby is craving the milk of the word that he may grow into the fullness of Christ (I Peter 1:22)
Every sermon will contain milk for the young and meat for the mature. The goal of Bible teaching is to feed this new person divine perspective gleaned from the word in order that this new man might become the dominant personality in the believers life. This is the way that the Lord intends for His children to experience victory over sin.
Christian maturity is a combination of the following:
1: The child of God being established in assurance of salvation.
2: The Spirit of God teaching the new man truths which the child of God takes in as he contemplates the truths of Scripture.
3: The child of God drawing upon already assimilated Bible truths during times of testing.
This combination of activity leads the believer in the direction of conformity to Christ.
We are not a consumer driven church. Rather we teach the Scriptures with the depth with which the Lord intends for them to be understood. Throughout the history of the Lord’s relationship with people, He has always expected people to take his words seriously, expecting people’s hearts to be totally occupied in His Scriptures. At Weston Street, our ministry is to such people. People who do not have that degree of hunger for the word, need to go out and get one. In every dispensation, the judgment of God falls upon those who neglect His light. We want to be a source of light where people know they can seek the truth.
As Paul told Timothy “till I come, give head to reading, exhortation and doctrine” (I Timothy 4:13), thus each week, each of our three services is one of those three types of messages.
During Sunday School at 9:30 am, we do a verse by verse study of a book of the Bible. At our 10:30 am. Sunday service the teaching is exhortative in nature. In our 7pm Wednesday even service we will explore a particular doctrine of the Bible.
Our teaching is grace-oriented systematic Bible teaching.
On each topic of truth covered, we try to reference at least three Scripture references so the listener may know with certainly the truth that was just taught. In this way the Holy Spirit can take these truths and build categories of truth into the listener’s spirit.
At Weston Street Bible church, we us the New King James Bible (NKJV), making frequent reference to both the King James (KJV) and the American Standard of 1901 (ASV).
Each of these Bibles has their unique strengths:
Each of the above translations attempt to be a word for word equivalence of the underlying Greek text. We feel this is important. A word for word equivalent translation, while it may be more difficult to read, will also contain less of a bias of the translator. Moreover, we feel it is important that our study reflect the mind of God, not the bias of the translator.
Because of our persuasion toward the Majority Text (M) Greek manuscripts, we use the NKJV because every NKJV study Bible has footnotes which contain the M reading for when the underlying text varies from the Textus Receptus (TR) which is the underlying text of both the KJV and NKJV.
Also The NKJV uses 20th century English, which is more easily understood than the 17th Century KJV.
We also heavily rely on the KJV because, in many places, the choice of words is more accurate than the NKJV.
Also the KJV retains the usage of plural pronouns. This location of the plural pronouns is very important to the serious student of Scripture.
One reason we also heavily rely on the ASV is, even though it is based upon, in our opinion, inferior Greek manuscripts, it nevertheless is the most unbiased, most literal translation of the New Testament Scriptures we have.
At Weston Street, all New Testament teaching is prepared from the Majority Greek Text. Whichever English Bible translation best reflect that underlying Greek text will be cited.
While this approach of pulpit ministry may be frustrating to most people, the goal is accuracy, not convenience. As a pastor, I never want to mis-communicate the words of God.
The new birth occurs in a person's life when that person hears, understands and believes the gospel of grace for himself.
The goal of evangelism is to lead a person to a place of assurance that the finished work of Christ on the cross has settled the issue of that person's sin to the Father's satisfaction and can therefor serves as the basis of that person's eternal standing before God.
A person is born again when he abandons hope in his own righteousness and sees in the offering of Christ God's gift of righteousness and embraces that gift as the basis of his eternal right standing before the Father, resting the eternal destiny of his soul in that all sufficient cross-work of Christ.

A primary ministry at the Weston Street Bible Church is promoting the clarity of the Gospel in order that it will generate eternal life in those who hear and contemplate its wonderful truth. The devils number one goal in this world is the confuse the simple of message of God’s saving grace.
2 Corinthians 4:3 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
What we strive to do at Weston Street is communicate the gospel in such a way that it will “click” in the conscience of the unsaved.
There are many a searching soul out there who are honestly seeking but have been kept in bondage their entire lives because of the confused gospel presentation they are hearing from the Pulpit.
Quik Reeds, Weston Street Bible Church’s publican ministry, is a world-wide, free grace book ministry. This ministry is dedicated to helping seekers of grace develop certainty concerning their relationship with God, where previous there was uncertainly. We distribute these books free of charge and encourage others to do the same.
When the child of God becomes certain in regards to his relationship with God, he can then begin the path to conformity to Christ.
